Macau, China, 11 Feb - Macau and Japan have signed a new air agreement enabling designated airlines to make regular flights to all destinations in Japan, including Tokyo, beginning this coming March.
Under terms of the agreement signed on Wednesday, the parties may name more than one company to fly to all points in each of the places. There are no capacity limits, barring some for the airlines designated by Macau on the route to Tokyo’s Narita airport.
As of 28 March the flagship carrier Air Macau will operate three regular weekly flights between Macau and Tokyo. It currently makes daily flights between Macau and Osaka.
Macau’s other airline Viva Macau, already flies to Tokyo-Narita, but only with charter flights, given that the previous air agreement between Japan and Macau did not allow regular connections to Tokyo.
Besides Tokyo and Osaka, Macau’s two airlines fly to other Japanese cities such as Sapporo, Kita Kyushu, Fukui, Kogoshima, Miyazaki, Fukushima, Toyama and Okinawa, among others, with non-regular charters.
The agreement was signed in Macau by the Macau Civil Aviation Authority and the Japanese Foreign Ministry, indicates a note from the Media Office. (macauhub)
