Angola: Railway between Lobito and Moxico concluded by 2010   [ 2008-12-17 ]


Lobito, Angola, 17 Dec – The director-general of Angolan regional railroad company Caminho-de-Ferro de Benguela, Daniel Quipaxe, said Tuesday in Lobito that the new railway line between Lobito (Benguela) and Luau (Moxico) in Angola, now totalled 400 kilometres of completed railroad on reaching the city of Huambo.

The same official said he believed that the 1,314 kilometres of railroad would be completed by 2010, with the arrival of the line at Luau.

Quipaxe said that 72 stations would be built along the line.

The Benguela railroad is expected to transport an average of 4 million passengers and over 20 million tonnes of cargo per year. (macauhub)
