Lobito, Angola, 12 Jan – The commercial director of Angolan regional railroad company Caminho-de-Ferro de Benguela (CFB), Aquiles de Carvalho, said Wednesday in Luanda that the company intended for its trains to reach Luena, the capital of Moxico province, by 30 April of this year.
Speaking to Angolan news agency Angop, the official said that the first trip by one of the company’s trains to Luena, scheduled for the second quarter of 2012, would be an experimental journey and was part of the programme to extend the company’s routes.
Carvalho noted that the company had also started experimental journeys since the beginning of January from Lobito to the Cuito municipal area, in Bié province, and vice versa.
The commercial director of CFB noted that during the two-way trips the train carried at least 250 passengers and various types and amounts cargo. (macauhub)
