Luanda, Angola, 27 Dec – In 2012 Angola may install a new digital television system as part of its cooperation with Japan, thus becoming the first African company to use the system, Angolan news agency Angop reported.
The Japanese ambassador to Angola, Ryozo Myoi, said that the project had been approved by the international telecommunications organisation, and was now waiting only for approval by the Angolan government to move ahead.
The Japanese diplomat said that the system was the same one used in Brazil and in Japan itself and was the world’s most advanced system using cutting-edge technology.
Ryozo Myoi also called for increased Japanese business presence in Angola and noted that Angola imported US$200 million in goods from Japan, mainly vehicle, and exports US$20 million in oil, and that therefore there was a need to make trade more balanced.
The ambassador also said that Japan planned to invest in the Angolan agricultural sector and called from more Japanese companies to set themselves up in Angola, particularly banks. (macauhub)
