Praia, Cape Verde, 5 Dec – Cape Verdean mobile telephony company CVMóvel said Friday in Praia it had been granted a license to provide third generation mobile phone services (3G), thus “developing Cape Verde’s telecommunications market.”
In a statement CVMóvel noted that it had been focusing, “continuously on new technologies, and proof of this was the launch of the mobile phone Internet service and mobile broadband service.”
According to the statement the company has made investments in “the information society of almost four times the minimum requirement in the 3G coverage tender in around 80 percent of Cape Verde’s territory in the first year alone,” and “CVMóvel is re-affirming its position as the country’s strategic and technology partner for development of information and communication technologies.”
The public tender to grant third generation licenses in Cape Verde received proposals from three Cape Verdean operators, and CVMóvel was chosen after it received a grade of over 98 percent in the technical evaluation phase based on criteria set by the National Communications Agency (ANAC).
