Luanda, Angola, 23 Nov – Improvements introduced in the safety standards of Angolan flagship airline Taag led to the European Union authorising it to carry out flights to the European air space using two more aircraft, airline executive Rui Carreira said Tuesday in Luanda.
The Taag executive for operation matters said that as of Thursday, 24 November, the airline would start flying without any restriction in European air space with its Boeing 777-300ERs, under the terms of the decision made by the European Commission.
For now, Carreira said, the airline would use its two 777-300ERs, as due to the holiday season (Christmas and New Year) coming up demand was higher, both to Europe and to Brazil.
The 777-300ERs thus join the rest of the new generation fleet of Boeing 777-200ER and Boeing 737-700s, whose operation in European air space was authorized in March 2010.
Taag was flying only to Portugal with its Boeing 777-200, due to the restrictions placed on the airline by the European Air Safety Commission. (macauhub)
