Luanda, Angola, 27 Oct – A business delegation from Japan has presented to the Angolan government a proposal to build and launch a satellite able to detect geological and mining resources, among other functions, the Angolan press reports.
The delegation was received on Tuesday by the Minister for Geology, Mines and Industry, Joaquim David. It indicated that the proposed satellite could also be used for the agriculture, forestry, maritime and fisheries sectors and also to forecast natural disasters.
At the end of the meeting the director of the Japanese Space Institute, Koichi Ijichi, said the minister had been open to the proposal. He added that it was only a first contact with Angolan authorities meant to present the project.
The Minister of Industry said in turn that the Japanese satellite contains “technology more effective than usual” and said the Japanese proposal would soon be submitted to government consideration. (macauhub)
