Luanda, Angola, 21 Sept – The acceleration policies of the industrialisation programme underway in Angola include construction of industrial development hubs in the country’s 18 provinces, the secretary of State for Industry, Kiala Gabriel said Tuesday in Luanda.
Speaking to Angolan news agency Angop on the sidelines of the 15th Technical-Scientific Days of the Eduardo dos Santos Foundation (FESA), Gabriel noted that 11 places had been identified across the country to set up industrial development hubs, which he considered to be business opportunities within the framework of the law on public-private partnerships.
In relation to the current state of the industrial development hubs at Viana (Luanda) and Catumbela (Benguela), he said that the former was operating with its first factories in its special economic zone, whilst the latter (Catumbela) has sold out the area set aside for the first phase of the project.
In terms of the industrial hubs at Futila (Cabinda), Lucala (Cuanza Norte), Caála (Huambo), Matala (Huíla), Cacuaco (Luanda), as well as the hub in the region of Icolo e Bengo (Bengo), the secretary of State said that these were awaiting funding for construction to begin.
The 15th Technical-Scientific Days of FESA, which this year are themed, “Industrialisation in the current context of the development of Angola,” bring together national and foreign specialists from the industrial, energy, water, banking, agriculture, forestry and fishing sectors. (macauhub)
