Luanda, Angola, 9 Sept – Angola’s diamond sector is re-staking its place in the Angolan economy due to rises in the price of the product, said Angola’s secretary of State for Industry, Kiala Gabriel in Luanda.
At the end of a meeting with a delegation from the Spanish parliament, Gabriel gave assurances, however, that Ministry for geology and Mining was focused on diversification of the economy, specifically, in mining.
“We are not only looking at diamonds, but also to other mining resources that need to be prospected, mined and processed in order to add value and to be able to export production as a finished product,” said the secretary of state.
In relation to gold, Gabriel said that there were currently prospects for its production within a short time, as there were already specific contracts in Huíla province. (macauhub)
